His daughter Ava grew up among the tide pools, learning alongside her father and carrying that knowledge into her work as a clinical herbalist. Years later, she rebuilt the grinder used to transform wild-harvested seaweed into an incredibly fine, dust-soft powder - ringing to life an idea she first imagined in sixth grade: make seaweed simple enough for anyone to use.
